Spoiler Alert - I found my new Favorite Alaskan place... Thank you Negative Ions.
*Disclaimer* Pictures never do any part of the world justice. But here is a small glimpse into the beauty that is a few steps past my backyard.
Today started out nice and sunny, but then 5:00p rolled around and with it came a bit of a storm. The sky darkened and suddenly rain came shooting down. We even heard thunder, which is rare in Alaska. After an hour or two the storm had mostly passed and the sky was trying to decide if it wanted to clear or not.
We decided to take an outing to the Rock Beach (not the official name) for our evening walk.
This is not a lake, a stream, or a river. Welcome to the {Alaskan} Ocean.
We found skipping rocks and made good use of them. Thor rediscovered the water and was loving playing in it. Each time we threw a rock in the water he went after it. He "dug" into the water looking for the stone that had sunk to the bottom. Water turns him into a Spaz . . .
We were looking down as we walked the shore line in an attempt to avoiding breaking an ankle on the loose rocks, and started noticing bright rocks mixed in with all the grays. We discovered vibrant Reds, Oranges, and Greens. I recently recovered our couch pillows in Orange so we decided to collect the orange rocks and take them home to throw in a vase or something and use as decor - a grounding element.
Where's Waldo. . . . ? I mean Thor...
Only One shade of gray here.
Happy Sunday!
